My friend Annette Sanders joined us for the occasion, singing lovely solos on Jerome Kern's haunting They Didn't Believe Me (# 10), If You Were the only Girl in the World (# 23), Poor Butterfly (# 32), and My Buddy (# 61). Another friend, Barbara Abis, offers a fine interpretation of Irving Berlin's I Love a Piano (#27) and provides a rousing Private Schwartz (# 44) that you won't be able to resist. The group "duets" well with itself on Irving Berlin's Play a Simple Melody (# 12), gets martial on Over There (# 37), bemoans army life on Oh! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning (# 39), and marches off to war to the strains of a It's Long Way to Tipperary (# 3) and Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag (# 18).
